GBA: A Strategic View of Social Media for Senior Management

This eight-session course is part of the summer offerings from the Graduate School of Business Administration's Fordham University New Media Center (FUN).

This seminar is targeted at the business professional who is personally responsible for managing their brand’s social media strategy and/or is functioning in the supervisory role of the social media manager.

Participants will gain an introduction to the “Big 4” social media platforms—Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube—plus blogging tools and rapidly emerging apps such as Pinterest.

In addition, this professional-level course offers in-depth exploration of: orchestrating a social media program from the perspective of an administrator, setting an appropriate strategy for a brand, selecting and using Content Management tools, and measuring success.

Participants meet weekly on Wednesday evenings for eight sessions.

Proposed syllabus by week:

1 Setting strategy, selecting content and measuring tools
2 Facebook – Personal timeline and brand pages
3 Twitter – Tweeting for sales, service, and leadership
4 LinkedIn – Personal profile and company profile
5 Visual: YouTube, Pinterest, Flickr
6 Corporate blogs and blogging tools
7 Apps and custom add-ons/best practices for interaction
8 Content, mobile, and metrics management/troubleshooting
